The control knobs can be set to anywhere between HI and LO. Push in and turn to setting. The surface cooking area locator shows which element is turned on. Use the following chart as a guide when setting heat levels. Medium Medium Low LO RECOMMENDED USE s Start food cooking. s Bring liquid to a boil. s Hold a rapid boil. s Quickly brown or sear food. s Maintain a slow boil. s Fry or sauté foods. s Cook soups, sauces and gravies. s High simmer or simmer without lids. s Stew or steam food. s Simmer. s Keep food warm. s Melt chocolate or butter. s Low simmer using lids. REMEMBER: When cooktop is in use, the entire cooktop area may become hot. 4
