Utility Mode 1 The "general utility functions" in this group apply to a wide range of functions and features. MIDI/ TRANSPOSE POP JAZZ ROCK SWING JAZZ BALLAD U12. Utility Mode 1 Setting Use the [POP/JAZZ ROCK] and [SWING/JAZZ BALLAD] style selectors while holding the [MIDI/TRANSPOSE] button. The [POP/JAZZ ROCK] style selector increments the utility function number each time it is pressed, and the [SWING/JAZZ BALLAD] button decrements the utility function number. The Utility Mode 1 functions are indicated on the TEMPO display by a tall "U" in the leftmost digit position. The number of the function is displayed by the center digit ("1" through "9", and "b"), and the current setting is shown by the right digit. The [MIDI/TRANSPOSE] button must be held until after you've set the function, below. Function number NOTES • You can cancel the selected function at this point and exit from the utility mode simply be releasing the [MIDI/TRANSPOSE] button. XSet as Required ... MIDI/ TRANSPOSE Use the TEMPO [v] and [w] buttons while still holding the [MIDI/TRANS- TEMPO POSE] button to select the required setting (the available settings for each utility function are listed below). CRelease the [MIDI/TRANSPOSE] Button to Exit Release the [MIDI/TRANSPOSE] button to exit from the Utility 1 Mode when you've finished making the required settings. U1: Touch Sensitivity The PDP-400 can be set to one of three different types of keyboard touch sensitivity to match different playing styles and preferences. 1: Soft. Allows maximum loudness to be produced with relatively light key pressure. 2: Medium. Produces a fairly "standard" keyboard response. 3: Hard. Requires the keys to be played quite hard to produce maximum loudness. NOTES • The MEDIUM setting (2) is automatically selected whenever the POWER switch is turned on.
