Parking Brake If you start to drive with the parking brake set, the BRAKE warning light stays on. See "Brake System Warning Light" in the Index for more information. To release the parking brake, hold the brake pedal down with your foot and pull the parking brake lever up until you can press the end release button. Hold the release button in as you move the brake lever all the way down. NOTICE: Driving with the parking brake on can cause the rear brakes to overheat. You may have to replace them, and you could also damage other parts of your vehicle. The parking brake is located on the center console between the front seats. To set the parking brake, hold the regular brake pedal down with your foot and pull up on the parking brake lever. If the ignition is on, the brake system warning light will come on. If you are towing a trailer and are parking on a hill, see "Towing a Trailer" in the Index. This section shows what to do first to keep the trailer from moving. 2-30
