2012 Taurus Intelligent Access Key (if This Quick Reference Guide is not intended to replace your vehicle Owner's Guide which contains more detailed information concerning the features of your vehicle, as well as important safety warnings designed to help reduce the risk of injury to you and your passengers. Please read your entire Owner's Guide carefully as you begin learning about your new vehicle and refer to the appropriate sections when questions arise. All information contained in this Quick Reference Guide was accurate at the time of duplication. We reserve the right to change features, operation and/ or functionality of any vehicle specification at any time. Your Ford dealer is the best source for the most current information. To unlock the driver's door, simply have the intelligent key within range (in your pocket or purse, for example) and press any button on the keyless entry keypad. To unlock the trunk, have the intelligent key within range and press the exterior trunk release button located below the license plate. To start the car, have the intelligent key inside the car or trunk and press the brake pedal and the ENGINE START button next to the steering wheel. The intelligent access key also contains a mechanical key blade which can be used to unlock the driver door. Simply press the release button on the back of the transmitter and slide the key blade out. equipped) • Press once to lock all doors. Blind Spot Mirrors (if equipped) These exterior mirrors have integrated convex spotter mirrors built into the upper corner, and are designed to help you see a vehicle which may be in your blind spot. As a vehicle approaches, its image will transition from the large mirror to the smaller convex spotter mirror. Rearview Camera (if equipped) This system provides a visual display of the area behind the vehicle. The display automatically appears on the navigation screen (if equipped) or in the rearview mirror when the vehicle is in R (Reverse) and uses colors (green, yellow and red) to alert you of your proximity to objects. Reverse Sensing System (if equipped) The reverse sensing system may warn you if there is an object behind the vehicle. A warning tone will sound which increases in frequency as the object gets closer and then will sound continuously when the object is less than 10 inches away. The system is active when the vehicle is in R (Reverse) and traveling less than 3 mph (5 km/h). Note: Visibility aids do not replace the need to watch where the vehicle is moving. When MyKey® is programmed, the following features are adjusted: • Belt-Minder® will sound continuously and the audio will be muted until the safety belt is buckled. • Audible and visual low fuel warnings are provided. • Certain features cannot be turned off such as, the reverse sensing system, Blind spot information system (BLIS™) with Cross traffic alert (if equipped) and collision warning system (if equipped). • Audio volume is limited. • Vehicle speed is limited. • Audible and visual speed warnings at preselected speeds. • AdvanceTrac® cannot be programmed off. Multi-Contour Front Seats with Active Motion™ (if equipped) Your driver and passenger seats may have a massage feature. Push and release the front portion of the massage control (1) to activate the cushion massage feature. Push and release the rear portion of the massage control (1) to activate the back massage feature. To deactivate, press (1) again or press the lumbar control (2). To adjust the lumbar setting, press the lumbar control (2) up or down to select either the top, middle or bottom part of the seat back. Push and hold the front portion of the lumbar control (2) to increase firmness and the rear portion to decrease firmness. Please allow a few seconds for your selection to activate. The back and cushion massage features do not function at the same time. Note: The massage system will turn off after 20 minutes. SelectShift Automatic™ Transmission (if equipped) This automatic transmission gives you the ability to manually change gears without using a clutch. To use, move the gearshift lever from the D (Drive) position to the M (Manual) position. To downshift, press the paddle shifters forward. To upshift, pull the paddle shifters rearward. E s s e n t i a l i n f o r m at i o n With this system, you simply press open the fuel filler door, insert the nozzle and begin fueling. Ensure that you wait five seconds from the time the refueling nozzle is shut-off until the nozzle is pulled back out of the fill pipe to allow residual fuel in the nozzle to drain into the tank. The Easy Fuel® system is self-sealing and therefore protected against dust, dirt, water, snow and ice. To use a portable fuel container, slowly insert the fuel funnel (located in the spare tire compartment), and pour the fuel into the funnel. When done, clean the funnel or properly dispose of it. Extra funnels can be purchased from your authorized dealer. Do not use aftermarket funnels as they will not work with the Easy Fuel® system and may cause damage. Easy Fuel® System Improved Fuel Economy While Coasting or Decelerating Your vehicle has been designed to improve fuel economy by reducing fuel usage while coasting or decelerating. This may be perceived as a light to medium braking sensation when removing your foot from the accelerator pedal. recommended specifications are on the Safety Compliance Certification Label or Tire Label located on the B-Pillar or the edge of the driver's door. As an added safety feature, your vehicle has been equipped with a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) that illuminates a low tire pressure warning light when one or more of your tires is significantly underinflated. Fuel Tank Capacity/Fuel Info SecuriCode™ Keyless Entry System Allows you to lock or unlock the doors as well as open the trunk without a key. Ensure that you have your five-digit factory code, located on your owner's wallet card in the glove box. Blind Spot Information System (BLIS®) with Cross Traffic Alert (CTA), (if equipped) BLIS® uses radar sensors to help you determine if a vehicle may be in your blind spot zone when driving on roads and freeways. The CTA feature alerts you if a car is coming towards you when MyKey® Allows you to program certain driving restrictions on any standard key in order to promote good driving Your vehicle has a fuel tank capacity of 19.0 gallons (71.9L). Use only "Regular" gasoline with an octane rating of 87. Do not use E85 fuels because your vehicle was not designed to run on fuels with more than 10% ethanol. Tire Pressure Check your tire pressure at least once a month and before long trips (including spare, if equipped). The Your vehicle is either equipped with a spare tire or a temporary mobility kit, both of which are located in the spare tire well in the trunk, under the floor panel. The tire is designed for emergency use only and should be replaced as soon as possible. The kit contains an air compressor to re-inflate the tire and a sealing compound that will seal most punctures caused by nails or similar objects. Do not attempt to repair large punctures or damage to the tire's sidewall. The mobility kit provides a temporary seal allowing you to drive up to 120 miles (200 km) at a maximum speed of 50 mph (80 km/h).
