CHECKING THE ENGINE OIL Refer to the scheduled maintenance information for the appropriate intervals for checking the engine oil. 1. Make sure the vehicle is on level ground. 2. Turn the engine off and wait 15 minutes for the oil to drain into the oil pan. Note: The oil dipstick on the Focus ST is integrated into the oil drain back system. The oil reading on the dipstick will be influenced by oil draining back into the sump from the cylinder head if the oil level is checked without waiting 15 minutes after shutdown. 3. Set the parking brake and make sure the transmission selector lever is securely latched in first gear. 4. Open the hood.
