Tire Inspection and Rotation Tires should berotated every 6,000 to 8,000 miles (10 000 to 13000 km). Any time you notice unusual wear, rotate your tires as soon as possible and check wheel alignment. Also check fordamaged tires or wheels. See "WhenIt's Time forNew Tires" and "Wheel Replacement" later this section for in more information. The purpose of regular rotation is to achieve more uniform wear for all tires on the vehicle. The first rotation is the most important. See "Scheduled Maintenance Services"in the Index for scheduled rotation intervals. When rotating your tires, always use the correctrotation pattern shown here. Don't include thecompact spare tirein your tire rotation. After the tires have been rotated, adjustthe front and rear inflation pressuresas shown on the Certificatioflire label. Make certain that all wheel nuts are properly tightened. See"Wheel Nut Torque" in the Index. r * - Rust or dirton a wheel, or on the parts to which it is fastened, can makewheel nuts become loose off after a time. In anemergency, youcan use a cloth or a paper towel to do this; butbe sure to use a scraper orwire brush later,if you need to,to get all therust or dirt (See off.
