24 THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE STARTING YOUR VEHICLE 1. With the transmitter buttons facing down, remove the small screw, and separate the two halves of the transmitter. Make sure not to damage the rubber gasket during removal. 3. To reassemble the transmitter case, join the two halves of the case together. Install and tighten the screw until snug. Make sure there is an even "gap" between the two halves. Test transmitter operation. REMOTE STARTING SYSTEM - IF EQUIPPED Your vehicle may be equipped with a remote starting system, which will allow the vehicle to be started up to 300 feet (91 meters) away from the vehicle using the remote keyless entry key fob which is part of your ignition key. In order to remote start your vehicle, the hood, liftgate, and all of the doors must be closed. Separating Transmitter Halves 2. Remove and replace the battery. Avoid touching the new battery with your fingers. Skin oils may cause battery deterioration. If you touch a battery, clean it with rubbing alcohol. To remote start your vehicle, press the "Lock" button on the key fob once, then within three seconds press the "Remote Start" button twice. To indicate that the vehicle is about to start, the parking lights will flash and the horn will sound briefly.
