50 GENERAL INFORMATION j Recoil Starter Refer to the "Starting the Engine" section of the "How to Ride" chapter for starting instructions. The recoil starter is located on the left side of the engine. Always be sure the transmission is shifted into neutral before starting the engine. Vigorously pull the handle all the way up to start the engine. żIf the electric starter does not turn, the battery might be discharged. It is possible to start with the recoil starter. żUsing the recoil starter with the battery disconnected will cause the belt failure detection system to activate. Once activated, it must be reset by a Kawasaki dealer. A. Recoil Starter NOTE żIn order for the engine to run, the engine stop switch must be set to the "RUN" position and the ignition switch must be turned to the "ON" position.

Recoil Starter
Refer to the "Starting the Engine" section of the
"How to Ride" chapter for starting instructions.
The recoil starter is located on the left side of the
engine. Always be sure the transmission is shifted
into neutral before starting the engine.
Vigorously
pull the handle all the way up to start the engine.
A. Recoil Starter
NOTE

In order for the engine to run, the engine stop
switch must be set to the "RUN" position and the
ignition switch must be turned to the "ON" position.
°
If the electric starter does not turn, the battery
might be discharged.
It is possible to start with
the recoil starter.
°
Using the recoil starter with the battery discon-
nected will cause the belt failure detection system
to activate. Once activated, it must be reset by a
Kawasaki dealer.
