MAINTENANCE General Maintenance Engine Cooling - Liquid Cooled Models Coolant High Temperature Indicator Light The high temperature indicator light is controlled by a switch in the engine cooling system on liquid cooled models. If the engine coolant reaches a certain temperature, the switch completes a circuit that turns the light on. If you must drive your machine after the high temperature indicator light has come on, drive slowly and stop frequently to allow the engine to cool down. See your dealer. Coolant Level The coolant level in the coolant bottle must be maintained at the "full cold" line on the coolant bottle when the engine is cold. CAUTION Operating the snowmobile with insufficient coolant will result in overheating and serious engine damage. Always maintain the coolant level as recommended. Flushing the Cooling System To ensure that the coolant maintains its ability to protect the engine, the system should be completely drained every two years and a fresh 50/50 or 60/40 mixture of antifreeze and distilled water should be added. This service must be done when the engine is cold. Ask your Polaris dealer to check the coolant when he performs the fall tune-up on your snowmobile. 82
