Carburetor/Engine Idle RPM Adjustment MAINTENANCE AND LUBRICATION The idle speed adjustment should be performed as outlined in the Periodic Maintenance Chart, or whenever the idle speed is changed. Recommended engine idle RPM for the RANGER 2X4 and 4X4 is 1200 +/- 200. Recommended engine idle RPM for the RANGER TM is 1000 +/- 100. If the engine idle speed is not satisfactory, 2X4 and all other conditions are favorable, the 4X4 carburetor can be adjusted with the following procedure. 1. Engage the parking brake and place the gear shift lever in the neutral position. 1 2. Warm up the engine by running the vehicle approximately five minutes. TM 3. Remove the the seat and locate the idle adjust screw (1). 4. Place the transmission in gear (with park brake engaged). 5. Turn the carburetor idle adjust screw in or out until the desired idle RPM is reached. Turn the screw in (clockwise) to raise RPM. Turn the screw out 1 (counterclockwise) to lower RPM. 81

Periodic Maintenance Chart, or whenever the idle speed is changed.
Recommended engine idle RPM for the
RANGER
2X4 and 4X4 is
1200 +/- 200. Recommended engine idle RPM for the
RANGER
TM is
1000 +/- 100.
If the engine idle speed is not satisfactory,
and all other conditions are favorable, the
carburetor can be adjusted with the
following procedure.
1.
Engage the parking brake and place
the gear shift lever in the neutral
position.
2.
Warm up the engine by running the
vehicle approximately five minutes.
3.
Remove the the seat and locate the
idle adjust screw (1).
4.
Place the transmission in gear (with
park brake engaged).
5.
Turn the carburetor idle adjust screw
in or out until the desired idle RPM is
reached. Turn the screw in (clockwise)
to raise RPM. Turn the screw out
(counterclockwise) to lower RPM.
