Features and Controls Manual Shift Deceleration To slow or stop the vehicle, release the throttle lever and apply the brakes smoothly and evenly. As the vehicle slows and engine RPM decreases, disengage the clutch and shift to a lower gear. Be sure the engine RPM has sufficiently decreased before shifting to a lower gear. WARNING! Improper use of the brakes or shifting when the engine speed is too high can cause the tires to lose traction or stop rotating, which could result in loss of control. NOTICE: Shifting when engine speed is too high can also cause engine and drive train damage. 55
