FEATURES AND CONTROLS Console Mode Button The MODE button is located on the instrument cluster. Use the MODE button to toggle through mode options available in the instrument cluster. See pages 33-39. Gear Selector H: High Gear L: Low Gear N: Neutral R: Reverse Low gear is the primary driving range for the RANGER. High gear is intended for use on hard-packed surfaces with light loads. To shift gears, brake to a complete stop. When the engine is idling, move the lever to the desired gear. NOTICE: Shifting gears with the engine speed above idle or while the vehicle is moving could cause transmission damage. Always shift when the vehicle is stationary and the engine is at idle. Tip: Maintaining shift linkage adjustment is important to assure proper transmission function. See your dealer if you experience any shifting problems. 23
