OPERATION Starting the Engine 1. Position the vehicle on a level surface outdoors or in a well-ventilated area. 2. Place the transmission in neutral. 3. Lock the parking brake. 4. Turn the fuel valve on. 5. Sit on the vehicle. Tip: Do not use the choke if starting a warm engine. Excessive use of the choke can cause the spark plug to become wet fouled. 6. If the engine is cold, move the choke lever to the left until it stops. Tip: The choke is fully on when the lever is completely to the left. The choke is off when the lever is completely to the right. The choke can be adjusted gradually, depending on how much choke is needed for starting. 7. Place the engine stop switch in the ON position, then turn the main key switch on. 8. Do not press the throttle while starting the engine. Squeeze the left brake lever. 9. Press the start button. Choke Lever Tip: The starter will not engage unless the rear brake is applied. Always squeeze and hold the left brake lever before attempting to start the engine. 36

OPERATION
Starting the Engine
1.
Position the vehicle on a level surface outdoors or in a well-venti-
lated area.
2.
Place the transmission in neutral.
3.
Lock the parking brake.
4.
Turn the fuel valve on.
5.
Sit on the vehicle.
Tip:
Do not use the choke if starting a warm engine.
Excessive use of the choke can cause the spark
plug to become wet fouled.
6.
If the engine is cold, move the choke lever
to the left until it stops.
Tip:
The choke is fully on when the lever is com-
pletely to the left. The choke is off when the
lever is completely to the right. The choke can
be adjusted gradually, depending on how much
choke is needed for starting.
7.
Place the engine stop switch in the ON
position, then turn the main key switch on.
8.
Do not press the throttle while starting the

Tip:
