MAINTENANCE Engine Oil Oil and Filter Change 8. Reinstall the drain plug. Torque to specification. See page 81. 9. Using a clean dry cloth, clean the oil filter cover and surrounding area. 10. Place shop towels beneath the filter cover to catch oil drips. Remove the cover screws and remove the cover to access the oil filter. 11. Remove the oil filter and spring, retaining the spring for Bore reinstallation. 12. Using a clean dry cloth, clean the surface of the crankcase. Filter Cover Inspect for debris in the oil filter bore. 13. Lubricate the o-ring for the new filter with a film of fresh engine oil. Check to make sure the o-ring is in good condition. Install the oring to the filter cover. 14. Reinstall the oil filter spring, then install the new filter. 15. Reinstall the oil filter cover and o-ring. Torque the screws to 88 inlbs (10 Nm). 16. Add 1.75 quarts (1.65 l) of the recommended oil. Reinstall the dipstick. 17. Place the transmission in PARK. 18. Lock the parking brake. 19. Start the engine. Allow it to idle for one to two minutes. 20. Stop the engine. 21. Check for leaks. 22. Check the oil level. Add oil as needed to bring the level to the upper mark on the dipstick. 23. Dispose of used filter and oil properly. 84

8.
Reinstall the drain plug. Torque to specification. See page 81.
9.
Using a clean dry cloth, clean the oil filter cover and surrounding
area.
10.
Place shop towels beneath the
filter cover to catch oil drips.
Remove the cover screws and
remove the cover to access the
oil filter.
11.
Remove the oil filter and spring,
retaining the spring for
reinstallation.
12.
Using a clean dry cloth, clean
the surface of the crankcase.
Inspect for debris in the oil filter
bore.
13.
Lubricate the o-ring for the new filter with a film of fresh engine oil.
Check to make sure the o-ring is in good condition. Install the o-
ring to the filter cover.
14.
Reinstall the oil filter spring, then install the new filter.
15.
Reinstall the oil filter cover and o-ring. Torque the screws to 88 in-
lbs (10 Nm).
16.
Add 1.75 quarts (1.65 l) of the recommended oil. Reinstall the
dipstick.
17.
Place the transmission in PARK.
18.
Lock the parking brake.
19.
Start the engine. Allow it to idle for one to two minutes.

Stop the engine.
