OPERATION Driving Through Water Your vehicle can drive through shallow water. Make sure the water is no deeper than the floor of the vehicle. Follow these precautions when driving through water: 1. Check water depth. Never drive through water that is deeper than the floor level. 2. After driving through water, test the brakes. Apply them lightly several times while driving slowly. The friction will help dry out the pads. Floor Level NOTICE: Major engine damage can result if the vehicle is not thoroughly inspected after operation in water. Perform the services outlined in the maintenance chart. See page 53. Give special attention to engine oil, transmission oil and all grease fittings. If your vehicle becomes immersed or is operated in water that exceeds the floor level, service is required before starting the engine. Your POLARIS dealer can provide this service. If it's impossible to bring the vehicle in before starting the engine, perform the service outlined on page 79, and take the vehicle in for service at the first opportunity. 48
