Speedometer and Odometer Your speedometer lets you see yourspeed in both miles per hour (mph) and kilometers per hour (km/h). Your odometer shows how far your vehicle has been driven, in either miles (used inthe United States) or kilometers (used in Canada). Trip Odometer APd Tamper Resistant Odometer Your Pontiac has a tamper resistant odometer. If you .see siLves k s .between tAenumbers>:mL'!.!. k-!.QW thAt y someone has probably tried to turnit back, so the numbers may not be true. You may wonder what happens if your vehicle needs a new odometer installed. If the new one can be to the mileagetotal of the old set odometer, then it must be. But if it can't, then it's set at zero and a label must be put on the driver's door to show the old mileage readin.g when the new odometer was installed. The tripodometer can tell you how far your vehicle has been driven since you last set the trip odometer to zero. To set the trip odometer to zero, press the knob to the left of it. 2-61
