Windshield Washer Fluid When to Add This symbol, along with the LOW WASHER FLUID message will appear in the Driver's Information Center (DIC) when the windshield washer fluid is low. The fluid level should be between the ADD and HOT marks when the engine is cold When the engine compartment is hot, the level should be at the HOT mark. If the fluid is at the ADD mark when the engine is cold or hot, you should add power steering fluid. What to Use When you need to add windshield washer fluid, be sure to read the manufacturer's instructions before use. If you will be operating your vehicle in an area where the temperature may fall below freezing, use a fluid that has sufficient protection against freezing. What to Use To determine what kind of fluid to use, see Part D: Recommended Fluids and Lubricants on page 6-16. Always use the proper fluid.
