Silencer case air filter element To replace the air filter element 1. Remove the fuel tank. (See steps 1-3 under "Air filter case element".) 2. Remove the silencer case air filter cover by removing the screws. 6 EAU21311 Checking the engine idling speed The engine idling speed must be checked as follows and, if necessary, adjusted by a Yamaha dealer at the intervals specified in the periodic maintenance and lubrication chart. Start the engine and warm it up for several minutes at 1000-2000 r/min while occasionally revving it to 4000-5000 r/min. NOTE: The engine is warm when it quickly responds to the throttle. Engine idling speed: 850-950 r/min 1. Silencer case air filter element 4. Install a new air filter element by inserting it into the air filter case. ECA10480 CAUTION: G G 1. Silencer case air filter cover 2. Screw Make sure that the air filter element is properly seated in the air filter case. The engine should never be operated without the air filter element installed, otherwise the piston(s) and/or cylinder(s) may become excessively worn. 3. Silencer case air filter element
To replace the air filter element
1.
Remove the fuel tank. (See steps
1–3 under “Air filter case ele-
ment”.)
2.
Remove the silencer case air filter
cover by removing the screws.
3.
Remove the silencer case air filter
element.
4.
Install a new air filter element by in-
serting it into the air filter case.
CAUTION:
ECA10480
Make sure that the air filter ele-
ment is properly seated in the
air filter case.
The engine should never be op-
erated without the air filter ele-
ment installed, otherwise the
piston(s) and/or cylinder(s) may
become excessively worn.
5. Install the silencer case air filter
cover by installing the screws.
6. Install the fuel tank. (See steps
16–18 under “Air filter case ele-
ment”.)

Checking the engine idling
speed
The engine idling speed must be
