Removing the Heatsink Fan Assembly WARNING:The heatsink becomes very hot when the system is on. NEVER touch the heatsink with any metal or with your hands. 1. See "Removing the Side Panel" on page 31. 2. Use a long-nosed screwdriver to loosen the four screws on the heatsink fan assembly. X3400 3. Lift the heatsink fan assembly off the mainboard. X5400 X3400 X5400 4. Lay it down in an upright position-with the thermal patch facing upward, on top of the optical drive then disconnect the fan cable from its mainboard connector. Do not let the thermal patch on the heat sink fan assembly touch the work surface. 5. Use an alcohol pad to wipe off the thermal grease from both the heat sink and the processor. 34 Chapter 3
