Section 2 Install USB Adapter Step 1 After the computer is restarted, insert the USB adapter into the computer's USB port. Note: If the space around the computer's USB port is too crowded to insert the USB adapter directly, you can use the provided USB extension cable. See Fig. 2.1 Fig 2.1 Step 2 At the Found New Hardware Wizard, do one of the following: For Windows 98, select Search for the best driver for your device and click Next. For Windows 2000/XP, select Install the software automatically and click Next. Note: Windows should automatically install the driver for the USB adapter. If you are prompted for the location of the driver, browse to the Driver & Utility CD and choose the netv558.inf file from the folder with the name of the operating system you are using. (Example) D:\Drivers\Windows 98\netv558.inf Step 3 For Windows 98, When you are prompted for the Windows 98 CD, insert it and type D:\Win98 (where D is the letter of your CD-ROM drive) and click OK. For Windows 2000/XP, click Yes or Continue Anyway if the Windows logo compatibility message appears. Step 4 Click Finish to complete the installation. Section 3 Configure Basic USB Adapter Settings Access the Wireless Configuration Utility After installing the software and USB adapter, you should use the Wireless Configuration Utility to configure the appropriate settings in order to establish connection with your wireless network. You can access the utility by double-clicking the Wireless Configuration Utility icon in the System Tray or select the Wireless Configuration Utility HW.00 from the Start, Programs menu. Configure Basic USB Adapter Settings
Access the Wireless Configuration Utility
After installing the software and USB adapter, you should use the Wireless
Configuration Utility to configure the appropriate settings in order to establish
connection with your wireless network.
You can access the utility by double-clicking the Wireless Configuration
Utility icon in the System Tray or select the
Wireless Configuration Utility
HW.00
from the
Start
,
Programs
menu.
