With a USB memory device connected to this unit, the audio files will be playable from this unit. • The controls on this unit for USB memory operation are operative only when a USB memory is connected. Playing MP3/WMA/AAC Files with the USB memory (Optional) If you connect a USB memory device containing MP3/WMA/AAC, these files are playable on this unit. 1 Press SOURCE/ to switch to the USB AUDIO mode. Pressing / again will resume the playback. • The root folder is displayed as "ROOT" in the Folder Name Search mode. • This unit plays back files in the USB memory with the same controls and modes as playback of CDs containing MP3/WMA/AAC. For details, refer to "CD/MP3/WMA/AAC" on page 9 to 12. • Before disconnecting USB memory, be sure to change to another source or set to pause. • The playback time may not be correctly displayed when a VBR (Variable Bit Rate) recorded file is played back. VIEW /ESC Preset buttons (1 through 6) An iPhone/iPod can be connected to this unit by using the Interface cable for iPod (KCU-440i, sold separately). When this unit is connected by using the cable, the controls on the iPod are not functional. • Internet and telephone functions of iTouch or iPhone, ect., can also be used when connecting to the unit. However, using these functions will stop or pause the playing songs, at this time do not operate the unit to avoid a malfunction. • If you connect an iPhone to this unit, it can be used as an iPod. If you use iPhone as a hands-free phone, you need the optional Bluetooth INTERFACE (KCE-400BT). iPhones/iPods usable with this unit • The unit can be used with the fifth generation and above iPod, iPhone 3G, iPhone, iPod touch, iPod classic, the first generation iPod nano, the second generation iPod nano or the third generation iPod nano only. iPod Shuffle cannot be used, however. • Touch wheel or scroll wheel type iPods without the dock connector cannot be connected to the unit. • The unit can be used with the following iPhones/iPods. iPhone 3G (version 2.0) iPhone (version 1.1.4) iPod touch (version 1.0.4) iPod classic (version 1.1.1) iPod nano (3rd generation) (version 1.1) iPod nano (2nd generation) (version 1.1.3) iPod with video (version 1.2.3) iPod nano (1st generation) (version 1.3.1) • For clarity in identifying your model of iPod, please see Apple's own document "Identifying iPod models" at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1353 • This unit does not support iPhone/iPod's video playback function, even using a video-compatible cable. • If the unit is used with versions of iTunes earlier than 7.6, correct function and performance are not guaranteed. 23-EN
