Technology Overview 9 MacBook Pro Simple Setup MacBook Pro is designed to be extremely simple to set up and put to use right away. Just follow these three easy steps. • Plug in the power cord. • Plug in your Ethernet cable-or go wireless. (To use a dial-up connection, you'll need to purchase the Apple USB Modem.) • Push the power button, and you're ready to go. Apple Setup Assistant software opens the first time MacBook Pro starts up. It prompts you to enter the information necessary to set the computer's time, date, and country of use and to set up Internet access. Setup Assistant retains the information you've entered, so it's not necessary to retype personal data in screen after screen or try to figure out where all the data should be placed. After setup is complete, you can register your new MacBook Pro with Apple with a single click. In addition, Setup Assistant walks you through the process of e∂ortlessly moving documents, user accounts, Internet settings, and applications from your existing Mac to MacBook Pro. Your new system will be configured just like your previous one, so you can feel right at home in no time. Upgrading has never been easier, and the transfer is fast using FireWire.
