2.
Serial ATA connectors (7-pin SATA1–6, SATA_E1)
These connectors are for the Serial ATA signal cables for Serial ATA hard disk and
optical disk drives.
If you install SATA hard disk drives to the SATA1–6 connectors, you can create a RAID
0, RAID 1, RAID 5, RAID 10 or JBOD configuration through the onboard AMD
®
SB750
controller.
These connectors are set to [IDE] by default. If you intend to create a Serial ATA RAID
set using these connectors, set the
OnChip SATA Type
item in the BIOS to [RAID].
Refer to section
3.4.2 Storage Configuration
for details.
Before creating a RAID set, refer to section
4.4 RAID configurations
or the manual
bundled in the motherboard support DVD.
Due to chipset limitation, when you set any of the SATA ports to RAID mode, all SATA
ports run at RAID mode simultaneously.
You must install Windows
®
XP Service Pack 2 or later versions before using Serial
ATA hard disk drives. The Serial ATA RAID feature is available only if you are using
Windows
®
XP SP2 or later versions.
