This inverter is only to be used on a negative (-) ground system. 4. Next, place the inverter power switch to the "ON" position without any load or device plugged into the inverter. Allow approximately 15 seconds for warm up. 5. Make sure your AC appliance switch is in the "OFF" position. Plug the AC plug of your computer, fax, stereo, TV, VCR, or other AC device/appliance into either of the two AC sockets of the inverter. (Warning: Do not plug the AC appliance into the inverter while the AC appliance is ON. Doing so may damage the inverter.) 6. Turn your AC appliance switch to the "ON" position and you are now ready to enjoy the convenience of this unique Belkin 12-volt DC to 110-volt AC, modified sine wave. power inverter. Note: If the inverter emits a "beep' sound, it indicates that your battery or DC power source is less than 10.6 volts and should be charged to 12 volts by starting your vehicle engine. If the red LED turns on and the inverter ceases to operate, you have exceeded the wattage rating. This is the overload indicator. Under normal circumstances, the DC voltage from the car cigarette lighter fluctuates between 12 volts to 14 volts. Our overvoltage protection will activate once the voltage rises above 16 volts and the inverter will turn off. Power inverters are not intended for continuous use over extended periods of time. • Store and use the inverter and any electrical appliance away from moisture and water. • Do not start your vehicle engine with the inverter plugged in and the power switch in the "ON" position. Do not use this inverter to operate any electrical appliance that has a heating element, such as hair dryers, toaster ovens, coffee makers, etc. Devices with heating elements can be extremely demanding in terms of power consumption and may exceed maximum capacity of the AC adapter units. Placing the inverter too close to a hot surface or heat-generating device may cause the inverter to overheat.
