Reversible magazine release button (mod. 84F only): It can easily be assembled on the right side of the pistol for left-handed shooters. D6. GENERAL OPERATION The series 81 Beretta pistols are semiautomatic firearms working on the blow-back principle. Upon firing, the pressure developed by the combustion gasses recoils the slide which, during its rearward movement, extracts and ejects the fired cartridge case, cocks the hammer and activates the recoil spring. The slide will then automatically move forward towards the closed position, feeding the next cartridge from the magazine into the chamber.
