English Upgrading Your Machine's Software You can use a computer to download software upgrades for your sewing machine. Visit our website at www.brother.com for notification of available updates. Note z There may be multiple upgrade files. Be sure to download all files in the correct order. z If an upgrade file for a different model is downloaded from the Brother Web site, the machine may not operate correctly. Therefore, download the upgrade file for this model again. Memo z While the software is being upgraded, the buzzer will not sound when a key is pressed. While holding (Settings key) pressed, a turn on the machine. X The following screen appears. When the following screen appears, the first e upgrade file is downloaded. Plug the USB cable connectors into the b corresponding USB ports on the computer and on the machine. X The "Removable Disk" icon appears in "My Computer" on the computer. Copy the first upgrade file to "Removable c Disk". Copy the second upgrade file to "Removable f Disk". When the screen shown in step e appears g again, press . X The message "Saving the upgrade file. Do not turn main power to OFF." appears. When the following screen appears, upgrading h is completed. X The message "Connected to PC. Do not disconnect the USB cable." appears. When the screen shown in step a appears d again, press . X The message "Saving the upgrade file. Do not turn main power to OFF." appears. Note z If an error occurred, an error message appears. At this time, turn the machine off, and then start the procedure again from step a. Disconnect the USB cable, and turn the i machine off, then on again. 5
