Compass Mode North Arrow Compass Degrees Compass Mode Indicator (Index Ring) 3. The BackTrack starts out in Compass Mode the first time you turn it on. An arrow points North, and the display shows the direction you're facing in degrees (e.g. East=90 degrees). The directional arrows work best in both Compass and Location Modes with the unit held horizontally or "flat" in front of you. Return to Compass Mode anytime by briefly pushing the MODE/Power button until the Index Ring and Degree symbol are displayed again. 3. The BackTrack starts out in
Compass Mode

Compass Mode
anytime by briefly
pushing the
MODE/POWER
button until the Index Ring and Degree symbol are displayed again.
4. To mark a location you want to get back to,
