Digital Performance ≥ IMAGE PROCESSOR Renowned for their superior picture quality, responsive handling, extended battery life and fast processing speed, DIGIC Image processors have set the standard for functionality and performance since their ground-breaking introduction in 1999. The latest advance in this distinguished series, the DIGIC 4 Image Processor, greatly enhances picture quality and accelerates processing speeds for noise reduction which gives you better image quality at higher ISO speeds. INTELLIGENT ORIENTATION SENSOR PowerShot cameras automatically sense whether a picture is being taken horizontally or vertically. The camera's Autofocus, Auto Exposure and Auto White Balance systems use the information to achieve a level of image quality not possible with less sophisticated cameras. Moreover, pictures are properly oriented during playback, whether on the camera's screen or a computer monitor. Horizontal Vertical iSAPS TECHNOLOGY PowerShot cameras automatically find the optimal settings for Autofocus, Auto Exposure and Auto White Balance systems. How? iSAPS (Intelligent Scene Analysis based on Photographic Space) technology. iSAPS combines advanced prediction algorithms with statistical frequencies for key factors based on Canon's over 70 years of accumulated data. Effortlessly and in any situation, you'll get the sharp focus and proper exposure that turn good images into great ones. NOISE REDUCTION Experienced photographers know that high ISO speeds can coincide with increased levels of noise: aberrant or stray signals that degrade image quality. With Canon's exclusive DIGIC 4 Image Processor, there is no need for compromise. DIGIC 4 offers a major boost in noise reduction signal processing to compensate for the higher ISO settings it enables. High Frequency Low Near Distance Diagram of Photographic Space High Frequency Bright Low Luminance Frequency Dark Far Without Noise Reduction With Noise Reduction RAW MODE* The RAW mode lets you shoot images without the camera processing them in any way. RAW images can be processed in your computer, using Canon's DPP (Digital Photo Professional) software. Creative control is completely in your hands as you adjust a wide range of variables to produce exactly the final image you want. 38 PowerShot Technology Optical Technology AF & Exposure Metering OPTICAL IMAGE STABILIZER* Camera shake often blurs images in low light and at long focal lengths. Canon's Optical Image Stabilizer technology cor- rects camera shake so you can achieve excellent quality images in many difficult situations - outdoors at dusk, inside without a flash, Image Stabilizer Unit even at the end of the zoom range without a tripod. The sophisticated system detects camera shake and optically counters the movement, effectively canceling unwanted lens movement and vibration. Because it is an optical system, there is none of the image degradation typical with electronic image stabilizers. Without Optical Image Stabilizer With Optical Image Stabilizer FACE DETECTION AF/AE/FE/WB† You always get the shot you want with a camera equipped with the DIGIC III or DIGIC 4 Image Processors featuring Face Detection Technology. When the shutter button is pressed halfway, the camera finds the face or faces in the frame to ensure excellent focus and proper illumination of both the face(s) and the overall scene. The system also adjusts the flash for the location of the face(s). Without Face Detection AF/AE/FE With Face Detection AF/AE/FE Face Detection AF finds faces, tracks them as you frame your shot, then delivers perfect focus. Face Detection AE makes all your group shots better by concentrating exposure on your subjects' faces, not their clothes or the background. Face Detection FE adjusts the flash exposure based on the location of the faces in the frame. Face Detection WB detects the faces in the shot and concentrates auto white balance on them, for the best possible skin tones. UA LENS TECHNOLOGY* The UA lens is a Canon exclusive: a glass-molded aspherical lens with an ultra-high refractive index that delivers incredibly bright, clear shots. Its amazingly small size is a major factor in keeping the PowerShot cameras so compact. Without Face Detection WB With Face Detection WB Face Selector AF lets you focus on a specific face. The selected face is double-framed and tracked as it moves in the frame. There is a dedicated Face Selector Button* for selected models. Face Selector Button * Not on all models. 39 PowerShot Technology
