Can the sender's machine send the CNG signal, which tells your machine that the incoming call is a fax call? Some machines cannot send this signal. In such cases, receive the fax manually. Cannot receive a document manually. Is the machine set to receive manually? For the machine to receive faxes manually, the receive mode must be set to . (See "Basic Receiving Method," on p. 5-2.) If you set to , the machine will receive faxes automatically even when the receive mode is set to . (See "TX/RX SETTINGS," on p. 12-11.) Did you hang up the external telephone before pressing [Start] or dialing the remote reception ID? Always press [Start] or dial the remote reception ID before hanging up. Can the sender’s machine send the CNG signal, which tells your machine
that the incoming call is a fax call?
Some mach±nes cannot send th±s s±gnal. In such cases, rece±ve the fax manually.
Cannot receive a document manually.
Is the machine set to receive manually?
For the mach±ne to rece±ve faxes manually, the rece±ve mode must be set to
<Manual>. (See “Bas±c Rece±v±ng Method,” on p. 5-2.)
If you set <MANUAL/AUTO> to <ON>, the mach±ne w±ll rece±ve faxes
automat±cally even when the rece±ve mode ±s set to <Manual>. (See “TX/RX
SETTINGS,” on p. 12-11.)
Did you hang up the external telephone before pressing [Start] or dialing
the remote reception ID?
Always press [Start] or d±al the remote recept±on ID before hang±ng up.
Otherw±se you w±ll d±sconnect the call.
Are documents set on the ADF?
After remov±ng the document from the ADF, please attempt manual rece±v±ng
aga±n. If you press [Start] when documents are set on the ADF, ±t automat±cally
sw±tches to manual send±ng.
Print quality is poor.
Is the toner low or unevenly distributed?
Red±str±bute the toner ±ns±de the toner cartr±dge. If the problem pers±sts, replace
the toner cartr±dge. (See “Replac±ng the Toner Cartr±dge,” on p. 10-11.)
Is the correct type of paper loaded in the machine?
Make sure you load paper that meets the requ±rements for use. (See “Paper
Requ±rements,” on p. 2-7.)
Is the sender’s machine functioning properly?
Ask the sender to check that the scann±ng components of the mach±ne are
clean.
