1 Unpack the Printer 1 Carefully remove all items from the box. i 960 Series Photo Printer Documentation and Software Kit 2 Prepare the Printer 1 Remove the shipping tape from the front and back of the printer. Shipping Tape 2 Plug the power cord into the back of the printer and connect the other end to a power outlet. Start Here Easy Setup Instructions 3 Install the Print Head 1 Remove the print head from its package. Tear at notch to open 2 Remove the orange protective cap from the print head nozzles. NOTE: Do not touch the electrical contacts or the print head nozzles. 4 Install the Ink Tanks i960 Series Photo Printer 5 Connect the Printer and Load Paper 1 Peel back the orange tab and completely remove the plastic wrapper from the Magenta Ink Tank (BCI-6M). 2 Twist off and discard the orange protective cap. NOTE: To avoid spilling ink, never press on the sides of an ink tank. Protective Cap 3 Insert the ink tank into the correct slot. (Refer to the color guide on the print head holder.) Press down until the ink tank clicks into place. IMPORTANT: Be sure the printer is off before continuing, or the computer will attempt to install the printer driver before the printer is ready. USB Ports: 1 TURN THE PRINTER OFF. 2 Connect one end of the USB cable to the computer, the other to the appropriate USB port on the printer. If your computer and operating system support USB 2.0 Hi-Speed, use the top port. Otherwise, use the bottom port. NOTE: The i960 Series Photo Printer is equipped with both USB 2.0 Hi-Speed and USB 1.1 ports. If you do not know your USB version number, connect using the lower port. Do not switch port after installation. Top Port: USB 2.0 Hi-Speed Photo Paper Tray Power Cord 3 Press the POWER button. The printer will initialize. POWER Button POWER Lamp Print Head Nozzles Electrical Contacts 3 Raise the lock lever on the printer. click 4 Insert the remaining ink tanks into their assigned slots. i 960 Series Print Head 4 Open the front cover. The print head holder automatically moves to the center. Remove the protective tape. 4 Slide the print head into the holder. The print head will rest at a slight angle. BCI-6Y Yellow BCI-6BK Black BCI-6M Magenta BCI-6C Cyan BCI-6PM Photo Magenta BCI-6PC Photo Cyan Ink Tanks Protective Tape 5 Lower the lock lever and press it down until it clicks into place. Serial Number 5 Write down the serial number located to the right of the print head holder. You will need this later to register the product. click 5 Close the front cover and extend the paper rest and paper output tray. Paper Rest Paper Output Tray NOTE: The printer will perform a print head cleaning after the cover is closed. USB Cable Bottom Port: USB 1.1 3 Pinch the paper guide and slide it to the left. Load a sheet of blank paper in the paper rest. Slide the guide toward the left edge of the paper. Paper Guide Continue with Step 6 on side two.
