Shooting in Program AE You can choose the settings for various functions to suit your preferences. AE stands for Auto Exposure. The focusing range is approximately 5 cm (20 in.) - infinity at maximum wide angle (j), and approximately 1 m (3.3 ft.) - infinity at maximum telephoto (i). Enter G mode. ● Follow Steps 1 - 2 on p. 61 to choose G. Adjust the settings according to your purposes (pp. 73 - 81). Shoot. What if the shutter speed and aperture value appear in orange? If a correct exposure cannot be obtained when pressing the shutter button halfway, the shutter speed and aperture value are shown in orange. Try the following settings to obtain the correct exposure. • Turn on the flash (p. 73) • Choose a higher ISO speed (p. 76) Adjusting the Brightness (Exposure Compensation) You can adjust the standard exposure set by the camera in 1/3-stop increments in the range of -2 to +2. Enter Exposure Compensation mode. ● After pressing the m button, press the op buttons or turn the  dial to choose #, then press the m button again. Adjust the brightness. ● While watching the screen, press the op buttons or turn the  dial to adjust the brightness, then press the m button. X The exposure compensation amount will appear on the screen. 72
