Starting Media Configuration Tool There are two ways to start the Media Configuration Tool: one in Normal mode and another in Add Paper mode, which was made especially for adding and updating paper information. Follow the procedure below to start Media Configuration Tool. Starting in Normal Mode Perform any of the following: • Select the printer for which you want to change the media information on the Basic Tool sheet of the Quick Utility Toolbox, and then click the Media Configuration button. • Click the Media Configuration Tool button on the Management Tool sheet in the Quick Utility Toolbox. • Select Applications from the Go menu, and then double-click the Canon Utilities folder > Media Configuration Tool folder > and Media Configuration Tool icon in order. • From Launchpad, click Canon Utilities > Media Configuration Tool icon in order. Note • Click Media Configuration Tool Add Paper to start the software in Add Paper mode, which is specialized for adding and updating media information. Starting in Add Paper Mode Perform any of the following: • Double-click the media information file (Media Information File/.am1x file) or the media information backup file (.amb file). • From the Go menu of Finder, select Applications. Then double-click, in order, the Canon Utilities folder > the Media Configuration Tool folder > the Media Configuration Tool Add Paper icon. • From Launchpad, click Canon Utilities > Media Configuration Tool Add Paper icon in order. Note • Quick Utility Toolbox is a Canon software application. • When connected to a printer, media information that was acquired from the printer is saved as a cache in the Media Configuration Tool. The screens at startup differ depending on whether caches exist or not in the Media Configuration Tool. Initial connection to printer (with no caches) Second connection or later to printer (with caches) • For details on starting in Add Paper mode, see "Adding Media Information by Double-Clicking the Media Information File." • The printer's caches can also be deleted. For details on how to delete caches, see "Clear Cache DialogBox". 23
