Self-Powered SmartSiren 4, NightVision™ - alarm

Page 8 highlights

Self-Powered SmartSiren 4 The siren has a built-in back-up battery, so even if a thief cuts all the wires, the siren will continue to wail. This unique Clifford-designed siren also has all these important features: n Unbreachable Digital ComLink: Clifford's ingenious serial communications link ensures that - if the system fuse is pulled, or if power to the system is interrupted, or if any siren wire is tampered with while the system is armed - the siren will instantly activate for five minutes. However, if the system is disarmed and power is interrupted for authorized servicing, the siren remains silent. This eliminates the need for a special separate shutoff key common to other battery-backed sirens. This ingenious Clifford feature guards against any possibility of a thief jumpering siren wires, which can defeat ordinary battery-backed sirens. n Smart-charging: Other battery-backed sirens continually draw charging current from your vehicle's battery. In time, this can drain the car's battery. Clifford's Self-Powered SmartSiren 4 only draws charging current while the vehicle's ignition is on, i.e., while you're driving. This prevents battery drain. n Automatic low battery warning: If the siren's back-up battery voltage is low, the usual arm and disarm chirps will be automatically muted to alert you of the problem. Once the back-up battery is charged, the chirps will automatically be restored. n User-selectable chirp volume: You can control the volume of the arm and disarm chirps. From the factory, your system issues QuietChirps. If you prefer, you may select the full-volume LoudChirp acknowledgments. See User-selectable features. n Remote siren silencing: If triggered by a non-threatening event, you can silence the siren without disarming. Press button 1 (master remote) or button (companion) while the siren is sounding. Two chirps confirm a sensor activated the alarm and the system is remaining armed. Four chirps confirm the system is still armed, but the ignition is on or the hood, trunk or a door is open and this may indeed be a genuine theft attempt. n Automatic noise abatement: Alarm sounding is limited to five siren duration cycles even if a door is left open in the wake of an intrusion. n User-selectable SilentNight: The SilentNight feature automatically mutes the arm/disarm chirps at night, restores them during daylight. n Long-term chirp silencing: You may silence the arm and disarm chirps on a long-term basis until you decide to restore them. Your vehicle's parking light flashes will continue to provide visual confirmation of remote controlled system arming and disarming. See User-selectable features. n Selectable siren duration (non-European models only*): You may change the factory set 30-second siren duration to 60 or 90 seconds via the programming procedure or via the CliffNet Wizard software. See User-selectable features. n Personalized Siren Sounds (non-European models only*): The Medallion siren sounds six different alarm sounds. You may turn any of the six sounds on or off via the User-selectable features programming to create a different combination of sound patterns. So if you hear a siren at a distance, you will know for sure whether it is your car or someone else's. See User-selectable features (column 1, row 2). What's more, with the optional CliffNet Wizard software and DataPort Replicator Cable, you may select up to six sounds from more than a dozen different siren sound choices for truly unique customization. n Choose when your Personalized Siren Sounds* play: For more information at a distance, you may choose to have your Personalized Siren Sounds "play" every time the alarm is set off, or you may set them to sound them only upon trigger activation. When set to "trigger only" the basic siren wail will sound if a sensor is activated, but the Personalized Siren Sounds will play if the hood, trunk or a door is opened. See User-selectable features (column 1, row 3). *Not available on European models in compliance with EC95/56 NightVision™ All of the following NightVision Headlight Automation features are built into your AvantGuard 4: n User-selectability: You may turn the NightVision features on or off whenever you wish (see User-selectable features). n While driving at dusk: The system automatically turns on the headlights. n While driving at dawn: The system automatically turns off the headlights. n User-selectable activation threshold: The NightVision electronics have a preset threshold that automatically turns on the headlights at about the same time as the public street lights turn on. If you find that your vehicle's headlights come on significantly earlier or later than the street lights, you may change NightVision's headlight activation threshold. See the User-selectable features (column 3, row 7) to change the threshold. To set the headlights to turn on when it is darker, select the "darker" setting, to have them turn on when it is lighter, select the "lighter" setting. The CliffNet Wizard software provides even greater incremental activation threshold control. n Intelligent activation: The NightVision electronics automatically turn the headlights on or off only when necessary. For instance, if it is dark when the car's engine is started, NightVision instantly turns on the headlights. When the vehicle is briefly driven under an overpass in daylight, the headlights will not turn on. Even more importantly, when passing through a brightly lit area at night, the headlights will not switch off. However, if you drive into a dark parking structure during the day, NightVision will turn on the headlights within five seconds of entering the structure. n When parking at night: NightVision keep the headlights on for any post-parking duration between one second and 4 minutes (factory preset to 10 sec.; see User-selectable features column 3, row 5) after you turn off the engine to light your path away from the vehicle. If you don't care for this feature, you may use the User-selectable features programming (column 3, row 6) to select all NightVision features except post-parking illumination. n Remote timed headlight activation: Pressing button 4 on your master remote or button (companion remote) will activate the headlights for any duration you select between 1 sec. and 4 min. (factory preset to 10 sec.; to change the duration, see User-selectable features column 3, row 5). n RainCheck: When you turn on the windshield wipers NightVision automatically turn on the headlights to increase your vehicle's visibility to all other drivers on the road. This is also a great battery-saving feature since you don't need to remember to turn off the headlights after driving in the rain during daylight hours. If using intermittent wipers, just measure the maximum amount of time between wiper activations, add a second, then program the Headlight Duration (feature column 3, row 5) for that amount of time using the User-selectable features. n Manual control of headlights: If you wish to manually turn on the headlights, simply turn on your vehicle's headlight switch. 8
