Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer. 3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 40), and then remove the following components: a. Memory module/wireless module compartment cover (see Memory module on page 41) b. Keyboard (see Keyboard on page 45) c. Hard drive (see Hard drive on page 51) NOTE: When replacing the top cover, be sure to remove the following components from the defective top cover and install them on the replacement top cover: ● Power button board (see Power button board on page 59) ● TouchPad button board (see TouchPad button board on page 60) Component replacement procedures 55

Before removing the top cover, follow these steps:
1.
Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn
the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.
Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer.
3.
Disconnect all external devices from the computer.
4.
Remove the battery (see

on page
40
), and then remove the following components:
a.
Memory module/wireless module compartment cover (see

)
b.
Keyboard (see

on page

)
c.
Hard drive (see
Hard drive
on page

)
NOTE:
