To minimize downtime "hot-pluggable" components such as disk drives, power supplies, and fans are also desirable. Rack-mount for Easy Access Large video server installations may require multiple servers along with multiple external storage options and networking equipment such as switching hubs. It is desirable to be able to rackmount this equipment to save space and to provide improved access for maintainability. To accommodate system growth, it should be possible to start out with a small tower configuration and grow to a rack-mount configuration using tower-to-rack conversion features. Attractive Cost per Stream Since video servers are typically sized by the number of concurrent streams they can deliver the "cost per stream" is often an important measure of video server efficiency.
