AUDIO CONNECTIONS APPENDIX 2: CONNECTIONS TO TV & EQUIPMENT Of all the video connections, only HDMI provides an audio signal with the video. The other connections all require a separate audio cable. Of these, your best quality signal will be from the Digital Audio Out/Optical connector, followed by the Digital Coax connector, followed by the RCA Audio Out connector. The connector you end up using may be determined by the equipment you are connecting to. (For example, your home theater system may support only the Digital Audio Out/Optical connector.) The red and white RCA audio out connectors are so common, it is possible you may have one of these cables already. However, these cables provide an analog signal, so you will be missing out on the benefits of digital quality sound. RCA Audio Digital Coax Digital Optical HDMI Cable APPENDICES 149
