Setting up your Dell DL4000 Appliance (continued) |5 Connecting the DL4000 system to the PowerVault MD1200 storage enclosure (optional) MD primary enclosure management module PowerEdge RAID controller DL4000 system MD1200 storage enclosure (optional) For redundant path configuration: 1. Connect one end of each SAS cable to port 0 and port 1 on the DL4000 system PERC controller. 2. Connect the other end of each SAS cable to the IN port on each Enclosure Management Module (EMM) on the PowerVault MD1200 storage enclosure. For a single path configuration: 1. Connect one end of the SAS cable to port 0 on the DL4000 system PERC controller. 2. Connect the other end of the SAS cable to the IN port on the Enclosure Management Module (EMM) on the PowerVault MD1200 storage enclosure. NOTE: For optional cable configuration, see the Dell DL4000 Appliance Deployment Guide. To locate the primary EMM, see the Dell PowerVault MD1200 Storage Enclosure's Owner's Manual at dell.com/support/manuals. NOTE: Do not connect tape devices to the PERC controller. |6 Configuring the DL4000 software 1. Turn on the components in the following order: a. PowerVault MD1200 storage enclosure b. DL4000 system and monitor NOTE: Do not close the AppAssure Appliance Configuration Wizard. 2. The DL4000 system prompts you to change the password. After the password is confirmed, the AppAssure Appliance Configuration Wizard is displayed. NOTE: Do not close the AppAssure Appliance Configuration Wizard. Do not make any hardware or software changes until the Wizard is complete. Complete all steps in the wizard before configuring NIC bonding and running the Microsoft Windows update. 3. Click Next and follow the instructions on the screen to complete the software configuration. For more information, see the Dell DL4000 Appliance Deployment Guide at dell.com/support/manuals. |7 Launching the console After the AppAssure Appliance Configuration Wizard is complete, the AppAssure Core Console is displayed. NOTE: Your system is shipped with a 30-day temporary AppAssure software license. To obtain permanent license(s), go to dell.com/DLActivation and complete the registration. NOTE: You can now configure NIC bonding and run the Microsoft Windows update. |8 Additional information Important Updates Note: Before installing any updates, complete setting up the DL4000 Appliance. • For latest operating system updates, go to the Microsoft website at update.microsoft.com. • To reinstall or update Dell software, download the Dell DL Backup to Disk Appliance Recovery and Update Utility from dell.com/support/downloads.
