CAUTION: To avoid electrostatic discharge, ground yourself by using a wrist grounding strap or by periodically touching an unpainted metal surface. CAUTION: To help prevent damage to the system board, remove the main battery (see Removing the Battery) before working inside the computer. Removing the Fan 1. Follow the procedures in Before You Begin. 2. Remove the battery (see Removing the Battery). 3. Remove the system board (see Removing the System Board). You do not need to remove the processor heat sink from the system board. 4. Remove the two screws that secure the fan to the computer base. 1 computer base 3 fan 2 screws (2) Replacing the Fan 1. Place the fan on the computer base. 2. Replace the two screws that secure the fan to the computer base. 3. Replace the system board (see Replacing the System Board). 4. Follow the procedures in
Before You Begin

Remove the battery (see
Removing the Battery
).
3.
Remove the system board (see
Removing the System Board
). You do not need to remove the processor heat sink from the system board.
4.
Remove the two screws that secure the fan to the computer base.
Replacing the Fan

Place the fan on the computer base.
2.
Replace the two screws that secure the fan to the computer base.
3.
Replace the system board (see

).
