NOTICE: If the front of your system chassis is labeled with a "II," your system is upgradeable to the Quad-Core Intel® Xeon® Processor 5300 series. See www.dell.com and support.dell.com for information on processor availability and upgrade options for your system. Prior to adding or replacing a processor, you must verify that the latest system BIOS and BMC firmware versions are on your system. Loading the latest BIOS and BMC firmware versions will ensure that the processor is fully supported. NOTICE: Failure to update your system to the latest BIOS and BMC firmware versions prior to installing the microprocessor can result in your system hanging during POST. 1 Check your system BIOS version in the System Setup program. See "Using the System Setup Program" in the Hardware Owner's Manual included on the CDs provided with your system or on support.dell.com. 2 Check the latest system BIOS version available on support.dell.com. 3 Download and flash the latest BIOS version if necessary. 4 Check your system BMC firmware version in the BMC Configuration Utility. To enter the BMC Configuration Utility, press when prompted during POST. For more information, see the BMC User's Guide included on the CDs provided with your system or on support.dell.com. 5 Check the latest system BMC firmware version available on support.dell.com. 6 Download and flash the latest BMC firmware, if necessary. 7 Install the processor.
