Processors • Your system supports up to two Intel Xeon processor E5-2400 product family. • Single-processor configuration is supported. Use the following procedure when: • Installing an additional processor • Replacing a processor Removing A Processor CAUTION: Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. You should only perform troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in your product documentation, or as directed by the online or telephone service and support team. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not covered by your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that came with the product. 1. Remove the blade from the sleeve. WARNING: The processor and heat sink can become extremely hot. Be sure the processor has had sufficient time to cool before handling. CAUTION: Never remove the heat sink from a processor unless you intend to remove the processor. The heat sink is necessary to maintain proper thermal conditions. 2. Loosen the two retention sockets that secure the heat sink to the blade system board. 3. Remove the heat sink. 36
