6 Configuring STP, RSTP, or MSTP on CEE interface ports To specify the port priority on the CEE interface, perform the following steps from Privileged EXEC mode. 1. Enter the configure terminal command to access global configuration mode. 2. Enter the interface command to specify the CEE interface type and slot/port number. switch(config)#interface intengigabitethernet 0/1 3. Enter the no shutdown command to enable the CEE interface. 4. Enter the spanning-tree command to specify the port priority on the CEE interface. switch(conf-if-te-0/1)#spanning-tree priority 32 Restricting the port from becoming a root port From the CEE interface, use this command to restrict a port from becoming a root port. The default is to allow the CEE interface to become a root port. To restrict the CEE interface from becoming a root port, perform the following steps from Privileged EXEC mode. 1. Enter the configure terminal command to access global configuration mode. 2. Enter the interface command to specify the CEE interface type and slot/port number. switch(config)#interface intengigabitethernet 0/1 3. Enter the no shutdown command to enable the CEE interface. 4. Enter the spanning-tree command to restrict the CEE interface from becoming a root port. switch(conf-if-te-0/1)#spanning-tree restricted-role Restricting the topology change notification From the CEE interface, use this command to restrict the topology change notification BPDUs sent on the interface. By default, the restriction is disabled. To restrict the topology change notification BPDUs sent on the CEE interface, perform the following steps from Privileged EXEC mode. 1. Enter the configure terminal command to access global configuration mode. 2. Enter the interface command to specify the CEE interface type and slot/port number. switch(config)#interface intengigabitethernet 0/1 3. Enter the no shutdown command to enable the CEE interface. 4. Enter the spanning-tree command to restrict the topology change notification BPDUs sent on the CEE interface. switch(conf-if-te-0/1)#spanning-tree restricted-tcn Enabling spanning tree From the CEE interface, use this command to enable spanning tree on the CEE interface.
