Information Update Microsoft® Windows Server® 2008 (32-bit) Installation Notes If you have installed the Windows Server 2008 (32-bit) operating system using the Dell™ Systems Build and Update Utility, you will need to manually install driver Intel_5100-Chipset-Software-_A02_R196223.exe (version A02 or later). You can download this driver through the update utility or from www.support.dell.com. Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Service Pack Installation Running the Microsoft® Windows® 2003 operating system on a multi-core Intel® Xeon® Processor 5000 sequence-based server without the most current integrated Service Pack (SP) will cause a system failure. If you install the first release (R1) of Windows 2003 without a service pack, you will receive the following system error: IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL Perform the following steps to install the most current release of Windows 2003 Service Pack (SP2) on your system: 1 Temporarily disable the Demand-Based Power Management setting. a Power on the system. b Press during startup to enter the System Setup program. c From the Main screen, select CPU Information and press to open the CPU Information screen. d Select Demand-Based Power Management and press the right-arrow key to change the setting to Disabled. e Press , save your changes, and exit the System Setup program screen. screen.

key to change the setting to

Press <Esc>, save your changes, and exit the System Setup program
screen.
