Statement of Volatility - Dell U2415 CAUTION: A CAUTION indicates either potential damage to hardware or loss of data and tells you how to avoid the problem. The Dell U2415 contains both volatile and non-volatile (NV) components. Volatile components lose their data immediately after power is removed from the component. Non-volatile (NV) components continue to retain their data even after power is removed from the component. The following NV components are present on the U2415 system board. Table 1. List of Non-Volatile Components on System Board Description Reference Designator Volatility Description User Accessible for external data Remedial Action (Action necessary to prevent loss of data) System U22 EEPROM HDMI 1 U1 EDID EEPROM HDMI 2 U6 EDID EEPROM Serial U23 Flash 16 Kbit EEPROM Non No Volatile memory for storage of system setting (OSD) / DP EDID / MiniDP EDID/ MHL EDID 2 Kbit EEPROM Non Volatile No memory for Storage of HDMI 1 EDID 2 Kbit EEPROM Non Volatile No memory for Storage of HDMI 2 EDID 16 Mbit Serial Flash Non No Volatile memory for storage of system firmware Software write protected Hardware and software write protected Hardware and software write protected Software write protected Video U21 buffer and system memory 1 Gbit DDR3 Volatile memory No N/A in off state for scaler buffer for video processing. CAUTION: All other components on the system board lose data if power is removed from the system. Primary power loss (unplugging the power cord and removing the battery) destroys all user data on the memory (DDR3, 1067 MHz). Secondary power loss (removing the on-board coin-cell battery) destroys system data on the system configuration and time-of-day information. Copyright © 2014 Dell Inc. All rights reserved.
