100 Disc Automatic CD Changer DCM-5000/5001 The DCM-5000 is a 100-disc CD Changer with two CD drives. CDs can be selected and played using the front panel controls, the infrared remote control, or via the RS-232C/RS-422A serial port using third party software. The DCM-5000 can be used as a standalone 100-disc CD Changer, or as the master control unit for a CD Changer System of up to 600 discs when up to five DCM-5001 units are daisy-chained to the DCM-5000. Designed with flexibility in mind, the DCM-5000 is ideal for use at radio stations, recording studios, and for commercial and residential custom installation. Two independent CD drives The DCM-5000 is equipped with two CD drives for greater operating flexibility: (1) While a CD is being played in one drive, another CD can be loaded in the other drive and held in standby mode. This permits a seamless transition from one musical selection to the next (in Single-Zone mode). (2) Simultaneous playback from both drives is also possible (in Multi-Zone mode), since the DCM-5000 is equipped with two sets of audio outputs. High durability and long life drive mechanisms Stores up to 100 CDs Up to 100 CDs can be stored in the disc rack, providing a large library of CDs from which selections can be made at any time. Daisy-chain connection of up to 5 DCM-5001 units Up to five DCM-5001 units can be controlled via a DCM-5000 for a total system capacity of 600 CDs. RS-232C/422-A serial port interface provides for external computer control via third party systems such as Escient Tune-Base. Two pairs of analog outputs (L/R) Analog output is available through two pairs of RCA output jacks, enabling the following playback modes: (1) Single-Zone mode Signal output alternating from both drives (2) Multi-Zone mode Separate output for each CD drive AL24 Processing (DCM-5000) The DCM-5000 features 24 bit Alpha processing, which is the world's first technical formula for reproducing an analog waveform from the reproduction of 16-bit data in 24-bit quality. DCM-5001: Slave unit for DCM-5000 The DCM-5001 is a 100-disc CD Changer with two CD drives which has been designed as the slave unit for the DCM-5000. CDs stored in the DCM-5001 can be selected and played from the DCM-5000 or via an RS-232C/RS-422A serial port. The DCM-5001 is used to extend the capacity of DCM-5000-based CD changer systems at locations such as radio stations, recording studios, as well as for custom installed commercial and residential systems. HDCD decoder (DCM-5000) The DCM-5000 is also equipped with HDCD decoding. Utilizing sophisticated encoding techniques, HDCD CDs provide increased dynamic range and superior sound, compared to conventional CDs. For maximum fidelity, the HDCD decoding is further enhanced via the DCM-5000's 24 bit Burr-Brown PCM-1704 D/A converters. A front panel light indicates HDCD decoding operation.
