DVD-Video Player DVD-1720 DVD Video Player with Progressive Scan DVD-1720 is a DVD-Video player which plays MP3/WMA contents on your favourite discs. And the DVD-1720 even includes Component video output connections (mainly for projectors and plasma screens). The DVD-1720 is also designed to be easy to use and includes a "Quick set-up" menu. s Progressive Scan Progressive Scan technology represents a cast improvement over the interlaced scanning method used in TV broadcasts and other conventional applications, as it can process around twice as much video data to produce a sharper, noise-free picture with finer details. High-definition video images are faithfully displayed with optimum naturalness and beauty. The DVD-1720 has a feature of manual IP detection mode selection. Even if a DVD-Video disc was mastered with wrong progressive flag or without a flag, the user can select a mode (Auto1, Auto2 or Video) to enjoy higher performance of picture quality. s Picture Adjustment function Brightness/Contrast/Colour/Gamma Correction/Sharpness s DVD-R/RW Playback (*1) With the spread of DVD recorders, consumers are increasingly recording TV programs onto DVD discs. These discs can be played back on the DVD-1720. s MP3 playback (*1) DVD-1720 supports MP3 playback recorded on CD-R/-RW disc. The navigation shows you artist names and track name, and easily find favourite tracks. Variable bit rate files, Multi session disc are available. s WMA playback (Supports WMA version 9) WMA (Windows Media Audio) is an audio compression format developed with Microsoft technology. It claims to offer the highest quality sound available in the industry. If WMA is used to compress a music CD on a PC, for instance, using the Encoder 9, the quality of sound at 64 kbps is said to be equivalent to that of the original CD. The various operations and settings are easily changed using the remote controller while monitoring the screen display. s A Wealth of Playback Functions The DVD-1720 includes a wide variety of playback functions, such as Resume Play, for returning to the Pause position on the disc after the playback was restarted; Slow Play; Repeat Play (A-B, Chapter, Track, Disc); Random Play and Program Play. s 2 MB Buffer Memory This unit is equipped with a 2 MB buffer memory to ensure that both picture and sound are played without interruption when the DVD disc shifts from layer 1 to layer 2, or in the rare event of a pickup dropout. s Auto Power OFF s Marker Function s Dialog Speed Control *1) Discs that have been poorly finalized following recording may be only partially playable or not playable at all.
