Changing the TV settings Setting parental controls (V-chip) You can set an age limitation on your TV to restrict children from viewing or hearing violent scenes or pictures that you choose to exclude. The restriction applies to "TV Rating" and "Movie Rating," if this data is transmitted. You may set this restriction separately. To use the V-chip feature, you must set and use a password. To set a password: 1 Press SETUP/TV MENU. The initial on-screen menu opens. Main Menu Picture Audio Channel Lock >> Setup : Select ENTER : Set 2 Press or to select Lock, then press or ENTER. The Password screen opens. Lock Password * * * * [0-9] : Select ENTER:Set 3 Select and enter your password using the number buttons (0-9), then press ENTER. Asterisks (*) appear on the screen instead of the numbers you enter. 4 When the confirmation screen opens, re-enter the same password, then press ENTER again. Your password is now set. Notes: If you forget the password, contact Customer Service for assistance. Your original remote control will be required. To avoid forgetting the password, write it down and keep in a safe place. To set the parental controls (V-Chip): 1 Press SETUP/TV MENU. The initial on-screen menu opens. If you are setting the TV Rating, the following screen opens: TV Rating ALL D L S V FV TV-Y TV-Y7 TV-G TV-PG TV-14 TV-MA : Select ENTER:Set Set the following TV ratings based on the age: • TV-Y-All children • TV-Y7-7 years old and above • TV-G-General audiences • TV-PG-Parental guidance suggested • TV-14-14 years old and above • TV-MA-17 years old and above Set the following TV ratings based on genre: • ALL-All • D-Dialogue • L-Language • S-Sex • V-Violence • FV-Fantasy Violence 6 If you are setting the Movie Rating, the following screen opens: Movie Rating G PG PG-13 R NC-17 X : Select ENTER:Set Set the following movie ratings based on the age: • G-All ages • PG-Parental guidance • PG-13-Parental guidance for children under 13 years old • R-Parental guidance for children under 17 years old • NC-17-17 years old and above • X-Adults only 7 Press , , , or to select the desired rating, then press ENTER. 8 Press EXIT to return to normal viewing. When a program is received that is blocked by the V-Chip, press MUTE, then enter your password. The protection is temporarily be overridden. If the TV is turned off or the channel is changed, the V-chip restriction will be reactivated. Note: The V-chip feature is activated only on programs and input sources that include a rating signal.
