52 OSD General Setup Page This menu appears when a disc is playing. Using the DVD player Option Tv Display Angle Mark OSD Lang SPDIF Output Caption Screen Saver HDCD Sub-options For the built-in TV: 4:3 LB-Image fills the screen. For an external TV: 4:3/PS-Pan and Scan-If the external TV has a 4:3-sized screen, widescreen content fills the screen, but the left and right sides of the image are cropped. This option only works if the DVD is coded for this type of display. This type of DVD is rare. 4:3/LB-If the external TV has a 4:3-sized screen, all of widescreen content is displayed. The left and right sides are not cropped, but black bars appear above and below the image. 16:9-If the external TV has a 16:9-sized screen, all the widescreen content is displayed. Some DVDs may still display black bars above and below the image if the DVD was recorded in the ultra widescreen format. Turns the angle mark on and off. If a DVD has screens recorded at different viewing angles and this sub-option is turned on, the angle mark appears when multiple viewing angles are available. Selects the language for the on-screen display (OSD). Sets the audio outputs. • SPDIF OFF-Analog surround sound is sent to the 2-channel or 5.1-channel audio jacks on the back of your TV combo. • SPDIF/RAW-The original Surround sound is sent to a Dolby Digital/DTS decoder through the coaxial audio connector on the back of your TV combo. • SPDIF/PCM-The Surround sound is sent to a Dolby Digital/DTS decoder through the coaxial audio connector on the back of your TV combo after PCM recoding. Turns closed captions on or off. If this option is turned on, the screen saver appears when the DVD player is idle for more than three minutes. If you are playing a standard CD, set this option to off. If you are playing an HDCD, set this option to 44.1 k or 88.2 k depending on the type of HDCD you are playing.

This menu appears when a disc is playing.
Option
Sub-options
Tv Display
For the built-in TV:
4:3 LB–Image fills the screen.
For an external TV:
4:3/PS–Pan and Scan–If the external TV has a 4:3-sized
screen, widescreen content fills the screen, but the left
and right sides of the image are cropped. This option only
works if the DVD is coded for this type of display. This
type of DVD is rare.
4:3/LB–If the external TV has a 4:3-sized screen, all of
widescreen content is displayed. The left and right sides
are not cropped, but black bars appear above and below
the image.
16:9–If the external TV has a 16:9-sized screen, all the
widescreen content is displayed. Some DVDs may still
display black bars above and below the image if the DVD
was recorded in the ultra widescreen format.
Angle Mark
Turns the angle mark on and off. If a DVD has screens
recorded at different viewing angles and this sub-option
is turned on, the angle mark appears when multiple
viewing angles are available.
OSD Lang
Selects the language for the on-screen display (OSD).
SPDIF Output
Sets the audio outputs.
