EVGA Connecting IDE Hard Disk Drives The IDE connector supports Ultra ATA 133/100/66 IDE hard disk drives. 1. Connect the blue connector (the cable end with a single connector) to the motherboard. 2. Connect the black connector (the cable with the two closely spaced black and gray connectors) to the Ultra ATA master device. 3. Connect the gray connector to a slave device. If you install two hard disk drives, you must configure the second drive as a slave device by setting its jumper accordingly. Refer to the hard disk documentation for the jumper settings. Note: If an ATA-66/100 disk drive and a disk drive using any other IDE transfer protocol are attached to the same cable, the maximum transfer rate between the drives may be reduced to that of the slowest drive. v Pin Assignments Connector Pin Signal Pin Signal 1 Reset IDE 2 GND 3 Host Data 7 4 Host Data 8 5 Host Data 6 6 Host Data 9 7 Host Data 5 8 Host Data 10 9 Host Data 4 10 Host Data 11 11 Host Data 3 12 Host Data 12 13 Host Data 2 14 Host Data 13 15 Host Data 1 16 Host Data 14 17 Host Data 0 18 Host Data 15 19 GND 20 -- 21 DRQ 1 22 GND 23 Host IOW 24 GND 25 Host IOR 26 GND 27 IOCHRDY 28 Host ALE 29 DACK 1 30 Ground 31 IRQ 15 32 NC 33 Address 1 34 Ground 35 Address 0 36 Address 2 37 Chip Select 0 38 Chip Select 1 39 Activity 40 GND
