42 Solutions To Common Problems Odors In Refrigerator Problem Interior is dirty. Cause • Interior needs to be cleaned. • Food with strong odors is in refrigerator. Correction • See Care & Cleaning Tips. • Cover food tightly. Opening/Closing Of Doors/Drawers Problem Door(s) will not close. Cause • Door was closed too hard, causing other door to open slightly. • Refrigerator is not level. It rocks on the floor when moved slightly. • Refrigerator is touching a wall or cabinet. Drawers are difficult to move. • Food is touching shelf on top of drawer. • Track that drawers slide on is dirty. Correction • Close both doors gently. • Ensure floor is level and solid, and can adequately support the refrigerator. Light Bulb Is Not On Problem Light bulb is not on. Cause • Light bulb is burned out. • Freezer light switch is stuck. • No electric current is reaching refrigerator. • Control system has disabled lights because magnet mounted behind dairy compartment (in fresh food door) has been removed. • Control system has disabled lights because one or both doors were left open too long. Correction • See Replacing Light Bulbs in Care and Cleaning section. • Release light switch located inside freezer compartment. • See Problem section, Running Your Refrigerator. • Reinstall magnet. • Close and reopen door(s) to enable lights.
