Cooking Instructions 27 BAKING PROBLEMS For best cooking results preheat the oven before baking cookies, breads, cakes, pies or pastries, etc... There is no need to preheat the oven for roasting meats or baking casseroles. The cooking times and temperatures needed to bake a product may vary slightly from your previous appliance. Baking Problems and Solutions Chart Baking Problems Causes Solutions Cookies and biscuits burn on the bottom. • Cookies and biscuits put into the oven before the preheating time is completed. • Oven rack overcrowded or rack position too low. • Dark pan absorbs heat too fast. • Allow oven to preheat to the selected temperature before placing food in oven. • Choose pan sizes that will permit (2" to 4") of air space on all sides when placed in the oven. • Use a medium-weight aluminum baking sheet.
